Dr. Mrs. Nisha Rao is a Kashmiri, born in the Valley of Srinagar and brought up in Bombay (Mumbai), Nisha loved music since her child hood and won many interschool and college singing competitions. She had the privilege to sing semi classical songs in programs where singers of high calibre and repute like Shri. Manade, Usha Mangeshkar and Kavita Krishna Murthy performed. Encouraged by Shri. Manade in early 70s she started learning Hindustani classical music quite young and has trained for over 13 years and has performed in a variety of programs in Mumbai, Brisbane and Sydney. Nisha's current School of Hindustani Classical Music is in its eighth She teaches classical - Vocal Music, Bhajans (devotional), and ghazals. 
 
 

  Past Performances, Concerts in Brisbane and Sydney


  
Dr Nisha Rao has taken part in individually organised and shared concerts with a number of visiting maestros and her peers in Brisbane and Sydney. Spiritual, humanitarian and community and interfaith causes have very much attracted her attention and Nisha has given her time for both mainstream organisations of the state and ethnic media, broadcasting organisations such as SBS, 4EB, Brisvaani Aid Foundation, The Brisbane Institute of Strengths Based Practice (Inc), Fred Hallow’s foundation work with cataract operations in Fiji, Fiji Hindi Speaking Church fellowship, Hindu Mandir Association of Qld, Ramayan Mandali , Temple funds for Sydney, India Australia Society and Swara Mohini. Additionally Nisha has performed with visiting artists from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Nisha presented her concerts in Cultivart series of BEMAC, and presented in Multicultural festivals in Brisbane, Brisbane Yoga Centre, Australian Centenary Foundation festival at Power House, and the Wood ford festival.
